Windows Vista Build 5308
Just had an interesting time installing and using the latest version of Vista
I tried to add this computer to a domain and it decided to say that the domain didn't exist, probably because of Microsoft's new "Phishing" idea, which means that all websites get checked by Microsoft to see that they actually exist. Great idea in theory, an absolute nightmare if your joining a computer to a domain that don't exist
A simple work around? Just direct your default gateway to your domain controller!
Also turn off Internet Explorer's Phishing option
Saves alot of pain.
Then how about making the screen a bit better, Intel's gfx drivers dont actually work with Vista yet! they only work with Windows XP.
Mozilla Firefox works beautifully
Google Talk, well lets just say it likes to bring up an annoying popup that says: This version has been designed to work with Windows 2000, XP and 2003. You have version 6.0. do you wish to continue?
I said yes and it installed without a hitch.
I managed to install Open TTD without a problem and would like to install something like CS: Source, however this Dell only has onboard gfx (A massive 8mb)
My verdict:
As soon as we see some decent gfx drivers, more sound drivers, and some decent login options, this will be an awesome OS worthy of gaming, music, photos and organisation. Very nice to use.
Probably a few to many security prompts.
